"Jack and the Beanstalk" is a popular fairy tale that has been passed down through generations. The story revolves around a young boy named Jack and his adventures with a magical beanstalk. Here is a brief summary of the plot:

Introduction: Jack is a poor boy who lives with his widowed mother. They own a cow, which is their only source of income. One day, Jack's mother asks him to sell the cow at the market to get some money.

The Magic Beans: On his way to the market, Jack encounters a mysterious old man who offers him five magic beans in exchange for the cow. Jack, excited by the prospect of something magical, accepts the offer.

The Enormous Beanstalk: When Jack returns home, his mother is furious with him for trading their only cow for beans. She throws the beans out of the window in anger. Overnight, a gigantic beanstalk grows outside their house, reaching up into the clouds.

Climbing the Beanstalk: Jack, intrigued by the beanstalk, decides to climb it. He climbs and climbs until he reaches a magical land high above the clouds.

The Giant's Castle: At the top of the beanstalk, Jack discovers a massive castle that belongs to a giant. The giant is not at home, but the housekeeper invites Jack to rest in the castle.
Jack is shown a magic harp and a hen which can lay golden eggs.

The Giant's Return: As Jack is about to leave, the giant returns. He is a ferocious and hungry creature who smells the presence of a human, and is anxious to eat Jack.  Jack hides, witnessing the giant's enormous size, cruelty and wickedness.

The Escape: Jack manages to escape from the castle with the golden hen and the magic hen. As he descends the beanstalk, the giant chases Jack all the way down. Jack quickly grabs an axe and chops down the beanstalk, causing the giant to fall to his demise.

Happy Ending: Jack reunites with his mother and they live happily ever after with the magic harp and the golden hen. The story ends with Jack's mother being proud of their newfound wealth and Jack learning the importance of making wise choices.
